Green is the New Red

Last year, I painted this bench red, but red clashed with the new cushions. Today I used some Laura Ashley Olive paint that the previous owners left here to paint it green. Free project! The old wood drank the paint, so it took three coats. But I love the way it turned out.
Here's one of the new cushions. I really wanted whole new chairs, but finally realized that was wasteful. They're about 7 years old, but still in good shape. The cushions were breaking down though so it was time to replace them. Later this spring, I'll repaint the chairs so that they look bright and new.

I'm really enjoying this spring-like weather! I know we'll go back to winter, but every day brings us closer to spring.

Spring Fever

Spring Fever...I have it! The snow has melted and it was 72 degrees today when I got home from school. I know it won't last. Winter isn't over, but I plan to enjoy this spring-like weather while it sticks around.

I've seen the tips of one hosta coming up, about an inch of the teeniest earliest daffodils. I think some of the leaves of one of the Blanket Flowers are growing. We have new cushions for the patio chairs, and the Lawn and Garden Show is this weekend. Looking forward to it!

Snowmageddon 2011

Good thing we don't use the front door much!
You can't see where the street ends and the yard begins.

The little red bench is a bright spot in the otherwise white landscape.
